where can I get a reasonably priced 90x200cm mattress from?

sorry for the boring post people but I've just bought a secondhand bedframe for dd and having measured it I've found it's longer than standard size.

is there anywhere I can get a longer mattress online (no Ikea please!)?

or do you reckon I could make do with a standard and pad it out?

I don't really want to spend more than about £60, maybe £80 or my bargain will start getting expensive!

thanks!

okay, have just been looking online

I am such a hick I didn't know you could order online from Ikea.

so, that looks like the best bet except I've heard that their mattresses aren't great. But does this matter for a child, given that they are very light?

any one with experience of Ikea mattresses please comment!

What about Argos/Next/M&S?

Izzywhizzy · 27/05/2008 21:23

IKEA?

harpomarx · 27/05/2008 21:32

have looked at Argos NaB, think they're all shorter.

will have a look at Next and M&S.

thanks Izzywhizzy, think I might end up with Ikea unless anyone tells me their mattresses really are crap!

Ikea mattresses are fine for kids harpo, plus it's not too painful to replace them when they get wrecked - if you go to Ikea and pick up the cheap kiddy mattress(sprung one), it'll roll up and fit in your car boot

Lilymaid · 27/05/2008 22:57

Buy a 190 cm long mattress (usual UK size) and put a block of foam or even an old mattress at the end of the frame to fill the gap.

Lilymaid · 27/05/2008 22:58

Sorry - not an old mattress, I meant an old blanket!

harpomarx · 27/05/2008 23:13

thanks both - if I can get to Ikea for weekend I'll go for that one, thanks for the tip about getting it in the boot jamila, that's what I was wondering about. Otherwise will go for a standard one and get delivered.

Make sure you unroll it the minute you get home and I wouldn't recommend putting anything at the end of the mattress. You need to get a proper sized mattress.

We got a made to measure mattress from babydreams.co.uk, but the website seems to have gone away. Might be worth a call to 01295 703 056 to see if they are still trading?

harpomarx · 28/05/2008 21:26

thanks for tip evelynsdad - i'm all geared up for ikea trip now cos I can probably kill about 10 birds with one stone (duvet, bedlinen, meatballs...) there!
