Hello, my trusty Henry Hoover I’ve had since I left university halls has finally broken. God rest his soul. I need a new one. I was going to get another Henry, but honestly he wasn’t great with pet hair.

We have one fluffy cat, who sheds, two girls with long fluffy hair, who shed, and I’m about to have my third baby so I want a good one but preferably a cheaper one.

I am considering second hand, because I get most things second hand, but I don’t know if that’s a good idea for a hoover. I thought maybe a second hand Dyson or something would still hold up to it’s original power but I don’t know.

I’ve never actually brought a Hoover before, I adopted my Henry from my uni halls because they took all my deposit, so I don’t really know how much you spend on a good one and I don’t want to get ripped off. We’re not broke by any means, but before baby I’d rather not spend a fortune. Thank you!

I always recommend a Shark. Don't get a Dyson! My job at Dyson was to compare how well the vacuums worked. Dyson came out at the bottom every time. Shark always at the top!

didn't even know he existed… and he’s green. Ideally I would have liked something cheaper but he does look so cute.

I’ve had my Dyson for 20 years and it’s still going strong! I do look after it.

Henry isn't a hoover,he's a vacuum cleaner and doesn't like to be "miss pronounced", Thus. I have a shark pet, corded, because I have a tiny open plan bungalow and 2 collies. It's 8 years old.. ds who has OCD and rapid cycle bipolar has a shark upright, absolutely loves it. Youngest DD has also now got the shark , the motor went, they replaced it,no quibble, didn't even require the old one, happy to take her word for it, she said it just clips in,simples! Always seems to be offers and sales to be had. I know a lot of MN hate shark, they actually make the Ninja. I've had several Dysons, an LG for upstairs and stairs, cylinder, which I passed to my ds,it lasted over 10 years.

I bought a second hand Dyson from eBay - as long as you wash the filters regularly it will last well.
