He has quite a large head BTW.

H&M have some nice ones. No strings though, so DS just takes his off (grrr)

PortAndLemon · 08/05/2008 15:58

Gap normally have some that are fairly plain.

LazyLinePainterJane · 08/05/2008 16:00

we have had decent ones in the past from H&M and Sainsburys. John Lewis have some nice ones too.

They all seem to be so small though. Or does DS just have a massive head? He's 2.8 now and has to have 5-7 years in hats but this seems universal wherever we go.

cmotdibbler · 08/05/2008 16:01

They either stay or or don't - last year DS would whip them all straight off. This year he likes hats for some reason. DH just bought him a legionaires cap from here which is rather groovy.

He'll prob want to keep wearing the character encrusted one that he was issued with at nursery the other day as DH couldn't find the sunhats (in the summer clothes pile in the cupboard amazingly) though.

katierocket · 08/05/2008 16:02

"They all seem to be so small though." I agree!

yes I got one from sainsburys which was okish, a size 1-2 but doesn't fit at all (he's 15 months). Ideally could do with buying one online, living, as I do, in the sticks.

lovely but pricey ....

EffiePerine · 08/05/2008 16:05

I had to get the age 3-6 one from H&M (DS is 19 mo)

tarantula · 08/05/2008 16:11

white muslin cloth tied on bandana style. Worked for us.

fairy15 · 08/05/2008 19:21

i got one last year for ds which he could'nt get off. it was a mini mode one & was a bit like a skull hat i think they are called but then had the tail at the back to protect his neck. was made to look like a pirate hat. he can't get it off as there is nothing to grab hold off. age 1-4 & his nearly 2 also with a big head & has lots of room left.

If you have this shop, found a great one in Pumpkin Patch light blue plain (striped inside) Australian style £5 (can't find a pic on the web. site) with a long tie string to keep it on so you can tie it under the chin loosely. He won't wear his Gap or H and M ones as the tie is velcro and tighter.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 08/05/2008 23:55

here i also like the babybanz legionnaires hat. They cover quite far around the ears and have tie string.

gigglewitch · 09/05/2008 00:00

I got the dses some today, from M&co / mackays, they appear to have a buy-one-get-one- halfprice thing on, which made me quite happy

gigglewitch · 09/05/2008 00:03

btw my ds1 also appears to have a huge head. bought him 8-10yr size hat, and he's 7 but otherwise smallish for his age.

geminigirl · 09/05/2008 00:13

Thank God to hear that there are other mothers in the same situation, I have a 6 month old boy who has a biiiig head and is very long too and am always bracing myself for the looks of astonishment when people ask me how old he is!!

I got cute wee sun hats in both Sainsbury's and Tesco that are a nice stone colour with a bit of subtle stitching on. He is in size 12 to 18 months for hats!!

katierocket · 09/05/2008 11:58

sounds like hat manufacturers need to make bigger sizes. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I used this one when we first came out to Cyprus. It stayed on really well but he soon grew out of it as he has also got a big head!!
