Cost of a Max Mara coat in Italy

I would like to buy a Max Mara Manuela Icon Coat. The internet said that it's much cheaper to buy it in Italy (1,400 euros v. £2,500 in UK). Is it true? We go to Italy for family holidays every year. Thanks.

Maybe worth checking the Italian website https://it.maxmara.com/icon

If you are buying abroad. Worth getting a card that doesn’t charge a fee the way that most debit/ credit cards do (Monzo?). Also, make sure you’ve a copy of your passport and ask for tax forms to be completed at the till. These are submitted at the airport (usually before security) and will give a further discount.

I don't think most credit cards charge fees abroad these days

Yes it is significantly cheaper - although you can’t buy on the Italian website at Italian prices and ship elsewhere it has to be purchased in Italy.

but the stores at everywhere in the big cities and they have a great selection

@Printedword not sure what type of fee it comes under but my credit and debit card both charged currency conversion fees. I used Monzo most of the time (no extra fee) but noticed on the odd occasion I didn’t that an extra charge was placed on all transactions (Eg HSBC’s debit card).

Worth checking if there are any additional fees on the method you intend to pay with OP s this could reduce price savings.

Generally, I would not use a debit card abroad. Same as with online transactions

If you get the chance to come to Milan, there is the Max Mara outlet called InTrend https://it.intrend.it/cappotti-e-giacche/cappotti

I bought a coat from the Max Mara store in Holland that was £1,015 in the UK. It was €945 but with the exchange rate at the time, even with fees my Amex was charged £820.50. I then got a tax refund back as well of £78 so it made the total cost of the coat £742.50
