Ethical meat and dairy - or as ethical as possible without going vegan

I really want to do better with ethical animal products, or as ethical as we can be.

I do everything I can to avoid the videos of cruelty to animals because I just can't bear it. I've tried being vegan before but find it so difficult and I'd rather my kids not be vegan as my daughter is already a super fussy vegetarian so it'll be impossible to get enough protein in her without eggs and cheese.

So I want to try and source more ethical meat and dairy. Dairy is actually my biggest concern as I just can't bear the thought of dairy cows being abused for years and years and years.

I've read about cow and calf dairy farms where calves are kept with their mum until they fully wean at around 6 months, but I can't find one that will deliver and we don't have any close enough to us.

I currently buy organic meat, eggs and dairy products in the hope that's more ethical, but I don't feel that's enough.

Where do other ethical shoppers buy their meat and dairy please?

Please do NOT share horror stories, I already know about them.
