Hands free, front sling for older baby (6m+) - Experts please help!

There are a lot of sling threads atm but not quite answered my question.

I'm thinking about a sling for a baby we may adopt, who is probably going to be 6-12mths old at placement. Previously I've used (and loved) a Huggababy ring sling, but I like the idea of a more supportive/enclosed front carrier so I can use both hands/ carry in more situations. But it sounds like the stretchy wraps are more for smaller/lighter babies.

Would I be looking at something like an Ergo? or maybe a not-stretchy wrap such as....??

i would get a wrap sling or a mei tai. both last well up to the age of 3 and even older.

I can easily carry my 11 month old ds in the ergo on my front still although I'm starting to use it as a back carrier sometimes.
