Present under £10 for the 1-year-old who has everything?

I have to buy a gift for a 1-year-old in our NCT group's 'Secret Santa'. I think the budget is about £5-10. Thing is, his parents are pretty well off and I expect he already has most things. What can I get that he's least likely to have already?

To be honest I think you should just pop into Boots/Elc etc and pick up whatever you fancy. It's the thought that counts. I love books personally and don't think that you can go wrong with a good book (esp. an old favourite of yours).

She got so much use out of it, and I would never have considered buying one as it looks so odd. It has shapes cut in at one end, and the other is a shaped piece of rubber that the baby can put the shapes through before he learns to sort the shapes. It costs about £7 and I would thoroughly recommend it.

if in doubt, i always buy Appley Dapply's Nursery Rhymes by Beatrix Potter

i loved it when tiny and dd does too (the rhymes are great). also it's fairly obscure so there's a fair chance he won't have it

not mad on B Potter but this is the exception

how about a personalised book they r about 7.95 including delivery and the bloke i use posts them next day usually....there is a santa one and then you just have los name city liveds in age and couple of friends included it really is a greta present

popsycal i got it for dd2, only to bring my order upto required amount to get £10 off, thought it looked pretty cool. she is 2, but i loved weebles when i was a kid.

agree with wigwambam - my dd loved her shape sorter & i would not have thought to buy it for her. happy street people are always popular - the santa is fun - but not sure on cost.

Wigwambam my dds have also loved that shapesorter. but particularly good for the under-ones as it's quite simple.

books are often a safe if boring bed for secret santas.

for more obscure presents try small websites. can't think of any offhand but will try and think. Everyone I know already has the whole of the ELC range, I would avoid that as it's highly likely he'll have things from there already.

Our DD adores her copy of the Gruffalo and the Gruffallo's child...........she asks for them every day, perhaps a book like this would be an idea. there are lovely book gift sets available at the moment.

mine love gruffalo too - we have all julia donaldson's books - i have seen a set with a cuddly (!!) gruffalo in somewhere

mishiclaus, I spotted your recommendation of personalised books and ordered one for my Spiderman-mad nephew - it's FANTASTIC! I'm SO excited about giving it to him. Got a couple of Teddy Bear Land ones for baby gifts too. What a brilliant idea - thanks! (And they arrived amazingly quickly.)
