I want a lovely Christmassy dress for DD age 1 (takes 12-18mths clothes).

Would either like red or navy. Something very traditional, maybe velvet? A bit flouncy as well.

I am willing to pay a fair bit for it. I have looked in M&S, debenhams, mothercare etc but nothing has struck me particularly.

Any suggestions. Thanks!

Monsoon - every time!! Have you got one near you? Or Laura Ashley for something traditional.

Have you looked in Hennes? I got a lovely red velour one there for DD1 last year.

Next have got some really pretty, "girly" dresses in velvet and taffetta, some of them with net underskirts as well. I can't remember whether there were any red ones, but there were certainly blue or burgundy.

I have a gorgeous dress that mydaughter has grown out of :( It is 18-23 months but comes up a bit smaller and she is 18 months now so it is better for 12-18 months. The dress is a dark Burgandy with a full skirt and velvet at the top. Can send you a piccie?

I got a lovely one in M&S. Its a dark navy pinafore dress with a few sparkly bits on the front and has a little cream top underneath. I loved it because it just looked so delicate. There was also a lovely dark navy really pretty dress with nets etc to make it look fuller. Its was lovely but I thought it might drivwe dd mad as she is so active right now but not walking.

Another vote for Monsoon. I could easily spend a fortune in there on dd at the moment. It's jsut a shame our shop is so small it's too difficult to take a buggy in.

Asda have a lovely red dress with tartan trim for £6 and some tights (2pk - £4) 1 tartan and one cream with tartan bows on ankles. Also a gorgeous burgandy taffetta dress with velvet top for £10. I couldn't decide so I bought both Grin - DD looks fabulous in them. Excellent value for money and definately look much more expensive than they are!

Where are you? Are you near a Zara? Their baby & little girl dresses are divine.

dd's dress last Christmas (then a small 3) was a scarlet extrafine babycord pinafore with an asymmetric sort of velvet ribbon trim (like a cheong-sam) with the delicatest flower embroidery along it - it was GORGEOUS and it was £9.99.

Seriously, if you have a wee girl who likes dresses you could end up buying the whole shop.
