Any ideas for a personalised present for Grandad's 70th?

My Dad turns 70 soon and we would like to get something personalised from his grandchildren who are 10, 9, 8, 7 and 5 (so a bit old for handprints). Any ideas?

How about fabric paints and a plain white table cloth? Or is the potential for anarchy not quite what you were looking for?

francisfrith.com is very good for personalised calendars and so on - chippyminton (I think) recommended it before Christmas. I got my dad a calendar featuring photographs of places that have been significant for him and he absolutely loves it.

It's an idea but I think it would come out cr@p! My niece is very artistic and perfect and mine lot would wreck it!! That's the inspiration I'm after though!...

You can get those moving photoframes that scroll pictures.. what about pics of the kids interspersed with things they've written/drawn?

Sorry hw - posts crossed!

I seem to remember our school doing tea towels - that way they could have one each, and your Dad wouldn't feel obliged to display them!

Or get them to make a photo collage and frame it? Copies of family and important places, or just stuff they find appealing (in this house there would be many pictures of Fireman Sam!).

Yes, the digi photoframe is something I've thought of, and we might do that anyway as his main present. That would obviously ahve a lot of the kids in anyway. It would just be nice, since they are all now old enough to "do" something, for him to have something special from them. I have seen a jigsaw that you can make from a photo (except of course I haven't saved the site!)

Anyone ever seen a mirror/frame you can make yourself then varnish? Tea towels and things is a good idea but might be a min order requirement.

Have you asked them if there's anything they want to do?

utterlyconfused · 05/01/2008 20:13

Nice idea. Again, maybe the niece...!
