For the past 4 years I've been using a hoover that quite frankly doesn't pick up dirt from the carpet and I've had enough of it! Have been given money towards a new one for Christmas and this time want to make sure I get a goodun. General concensus seems to be to go for a Miele but which one?! Have beige carpet that shows up everything and a dark rug that moults everywhere. Also a dh that drops food whenever he eats and a toddler who does the same to a slightly lesser extent

I'll be watching this thread with interest. My trusty Henry hoover has packed up and I'm looking to 'upgrade' to a Miele or Dyson. Any advice or suggestions?

katiebirdie · 28/12/2007 13:01

I have a miele s5210 and it was worth every penny - would most definately recommend it to you. Check asda-electricals for the cheapest deal on the net atm

Miele Cat and Dog.

I don't have a cat or a dog, but I do have a beige carpet that attracts all manner of crap.

It had a Which? report that was v favourable, and a trawl of mumsnet and a few other sites revealed it had good user reviews.

I bought it online. I think I went through Kelkoo or similar site to find the best price. I think it was about £150.

WendyWeber · 28/12/2007 13:06

I have the predecessor to this one (and it came from Hughes Direct who have the best price on that page and give v good service)

It is absolutely brilliant - it doesn't have a turbo head but cleans everything brilliantly, nearly sucks the carpet off the floor on full suction and goes on working really well until the bag is practically full.

Hughes vacs - there are cheaper Mieles though and Which generally recommend all of them
If you do get one from there I would also get a stock of bags in as the delivery charge is the same however many things you buy.

MerryPIFFLEmas · 28/12/2007 13:38

We have a miele revolution 5000 and it is awesome

ChubbyShcotsBurd · 28/12/2007 13:44

I have a Cat and Dog (and a cat, and some dogs ) and the Turbo heads are spectacularly good.

Worth every penny

NotEvenHopingForAWhiteXmas · 28/12/2007 13:46

We have the Cat and Dog. One downside is the bags are really really expensive. They come in small quantities and aren't sold at Tescos etc.

Raffaella · 28/12/2007 13:48

Can second recommendations for both the Cat and Dog and the Revolution 5000. I have both and they are brilliant. Beat Dyson hands down and I've had a few of those of the years.

We've got two cats and two dogs and they are both really good at picking up pet hair.

ChubbyShcotsBurd · 28/12/2007 13:53

cheap Miele bags here, good service and el cheapo delivery

CaptainUnderpants · 28/12/2007 13:59

Got rid of my heavcy Dyson and got a Meile back in the summer , cant rate it highly enough. Meile any day over Dyson !

mrsmalumbas · 28/12/2007 14:13

I have a Miele too and the suction on the strongest setting is so good it lifts the carpet off the floor! Nice and quiet, good quality, definitely.

doubleEGGnog · 28/12/2007 14:13

I have a Miele (not sure what model) and it is great. Was having a look at Which? online the other day and top of the hoovers, above all Dysons, was the Miele Cat & Dog. If mine packs up I will be getting one of those!

divamummy2 · 28/12/2007 22:24

sorry being thicko
is this one also cleans laminate floor? was one tv other day, cant remember what it was

hotpotmama · 28/12/2007 22:26

I have a miele, prefer it to the dyson, only thing I don't prefer is the bags, would rather it was bagless but still better.

sunnylabsmum · 29/12/2007 09:30

Miele Solution Hepa 2000 bought two years ago from John Lewis. Agree about the pain over bags, but a very good hoover. The suck is brill and it copes with Labrador fur brill. We chose this over the Cat and Dog one as the Hepa filter is better. Incidentally I also had a Dyson until recently and felt the Miele was better.I am now hooked on Miele and want a washer/dryer!!
