Recommendations for a new digital camera?

I've had a digital video camera for ages but so far haven't succumbed to getting a digital stills camera. And I don't know where to start!

I'd be uploading the pictures to a mac so it'd have to be compatible with that. I'll only be using it for general home / family /snaps use. And I'd like to spend less than £200, preferably much less.

Any tips?

I know I said I'd shut up, but I'd be very wary about buying things from Pixmania - their customer service is non-existant, and twice now we've had our credit cards compromised after using them on their site, so I strongly doubt their security.

Naetha, thanks for that. It's useful to know, particularly as I was thinking of getting one for DD1 for Christmas (not a fancy one like mine!) as she has a couple of school trips next year.

Beetroot, that one does look good but I've got a really nice SLR camera, quite chunky with a great lens etc., for taking special photos with.

This one I want to have as a keep-in-my-bag camera for snapshots.

I have actually ordered one of the Canon ixus, recommended by Naetha.
