Are memory foam mattress toppers any good?

I'd really like a Tempur memory foam mattress but can't stretch to £1200ish at the moment, so was wondering whether mattress toppers are very effective?

We have a good quality supportive mattress but my back aches every morning/most of the day since I had DS, especially if I sleep on my back.

I'm willing to invest £140 to see if it helps, but was hoping someone here might be able to advise first

Bumping, as am also interested to know if anyone has one. Will it make my futon more comfy during pregnancy?

Haven't tried one, but know many people swear by them. This shopping channel is selling King Size on special offer for £80, smaller ones even cheaper. Think the offer was on for one week only, but not sure when it started. Good thing about shopping channels is that you can try for 30 days and send back if you don't like it, so may be worth a go.

My mum swears on putting a duvet under her sheet to sleep on and says she can notice a real difference that way.

Just did a search on Mumsnet and there's loads of info

Now thinking about a Healthflex memory foam mattress that scored highest in the Which test. £650 for a kingsize.

Or try to persuade DH that we need a superkingsize to fit the whole family in Anyone recommend a nice reasonably priced superkingsized bed??!!

Oops, v rude Thanks piximom for the link - will look into it

Allbuggiedout - I had a futon a long time ago and it just got too firm & compacted after a lot of use, so I'd think memory foam would be v comfy when pg
