Was at the barbers today with my son and he told me not to use wax/gel on my sons hair as could cause hair loss or growth issues, ive never heard of this before can any hairdressers advise? Also can anyone recommened hair gel or wax for a 3 year old with fine sort of curly hair?

I use the Cantu mousse on my son's hair. Have done since he was about 18months. Doesn't leave it hard, brings out his curls and gets rid of fluffiness.

FFS they are tiny children! Just leave their hair alone.

Knew you'd end up with someone saying that sooner or later. My son's hair is more comfortable and less knotty if I look after it well. So FFS if you have a child who doesn't have silky smooth hair, I don't see any harm in maintaining it for their own comfort.
