Can you recommend a mattress for childs first bed?

Would be good to know of any opinions as I am trying to choose a mattress at the mo (3ft)Thanks

Get a good adult type mattress. I was grateful for it as when dd has ben ill and unsettled I've got into bed with her and slept in her bed with her. So pleased I paid extra for good mattress and not just basic childs one. I will get a decent protector when she's out of night nappies though, and its should last her for years.
