Good website for buying a car in the UK

What UK websites are very good / reliable for buying a second hand car please?
I live in Ireland and we can import ( and pay extravtaxes on the car) as UK still in the EU.

I would use autotrader but within that there's private sales, sales from great dealers, from not so great dealers.
I wouldn't buy anything sight unseen.
I would generally check what happened at recent MOTs and make sure it's not stolen etc.

Autotrader is the biggest and best cat buying website, with approx 500k cars for sale a5 any one time. Pistonheads is also useful, but focuses on performance cars.

Motorpoint is a national chain of car supermarkets specialising in new and nearly new cars, and Car Giant in West London is the biggest used car supermarket in the country.

Just use any old random UK postcode from the area in which you will be based. For example, if you will be in the West Midlands you could google Tesco supermarkets in Birmingham and use the postcode of one of those.

If you want to search in London, use my mate’s postcode SW1A2AA

Autotrader, ebay and Pistonheads are good options. You get time wasters, fake sales and the like on all car sales sites, its unavoidable so do your homework on any potential dealer and make sure to make full use of the mot checking sites to get a bit of a view on how well looked after a car has been.

Additionally, if you have a particular brand/model in mind look for the forums, often you get cars for sale on those and they can come with a history as the forum member will post up things on there about their car.
