So, I've been an Orange customer for TWELVE years, since 1995 .
I'm on a contract and spend approx £40-£50 a month. When I was working away it was more like £100 a month (so that was for a while, > 6 months). Anyway, I called recently and asked what I had to do to get a Prada phone and the answer was pay £250 as an upgrade fee or wait until May next year, when the 18 month contract is up.
If I want to leave Orange I have to pay £200 to get out of my contract.
However, if I was a NEW Orange cusomter they'd give me a Prada phone with a new contract. When I asked the cust. services guy why it made more sense to lose a customer of 12 years than to give me what I want he more or less said "Computer says no" (a la Little Britain).
Any suggestions? I am so piqued I am tempted to pay the £200 and go elsewhere but I do recognise that it would be cutting off my nose to spite my face so I will probably wait until March, when I have to give them notice and will THEN go elsewhere.
Are there any deals where they'll pay to get me out of the contract? Or do I just have to put up with this?
Btw, when Orange woman asked why I want the Prada phone I admitted it was because I'm shallow and I like the look of it.
TIA.
