Ive already got 1700 songs on mine

There is a gadget to convert vinyl to CD which you could then put onto your i-tunes!

WARNING - BASIC QUESTION ALERT:

What bit of kit do I need to play my Ipod in my car? It has a single slot CD player atm, and but doesn't have a docking station thingy in the glovebox?
Have looked on the apple website and came over all faint - none of it made sense.

Thanks!

I would go for the nana with 1000 songs...I have that one and find it more than enough. I have most of the cd's that I want onit.(others cd's are years old and I can;t find them let alone put them onto the ipod) and im not even half full...

I wouldn't go for the bigger mb one....imo.

contentiouscat · 02/07/2007 21:55

Lyra I might have to get one of them too!

contentiouscat · 02/07/2007 21:57

shh I think it depends how "into" your music you are, for most people 1000 would do it but I am so glad I bought the 30gb all my cds wouldnt have fitted onto even the 8gb nano.

LyraB · 02/07/2007 21:58

Charlieandlola, have you got a cassette slot? There's a device, which is quite cheap, which you plug into your iPod one end and the cassette player at the other end. Try Amazon.
I don't have one yet but have been meaning to get one. i'm sick of Virgin Radio in the car.

charlieandlola · 02/07/2007 21:59

I don't have a cassette slot - sadly! Is there any hope? Do I need to swap my 2 year old saab drop top for a 20 year old mini metro, just so I can play my Ipod??

shhhh · 02/07/2007 22:00

you need an fm transmitter which plugs into your cigarette lighter..Your ipod then plugs into the end of it.
DH & I both have one of these in our car and they are brill. They were the one recommended in the sunday times. The best apparently.

sonett transmitter

charlieandlola · 02/07/2007 22:05

Thank you v much Shhhh

LyraB · 02/07/2007 22:05

Hmm, much more expensive than the cassette slot one, but much cheaper than trading in your car.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 02/07/2007 22:05

lyra, i hjave a lot of white label vinyls, dub plates etc, which i would like to back up. obviously i cant mix with an ipod.

Then buy the turntable MP3 converter thingy, then once you're done with it sell it on eBay. You'll get most of your money back.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 02/07/2007 22:07

fab idea, thanks

right, so now to start saving and selling

i will get an ipod this side of xmas

right, i'm going to get a shuffle for now, and then save up for a better one later on. or might look for a 2nd hand ipod in cash converters.

LyraB · 03/07/2007 21:31

Buy the one you really want on eBay for much less than the shop price. That's what I did.

FrayedKnot · 03/07/2007 21:39

I've just bought a Belkin transmitter thingie for my car (from Halfords) and it's great.

I've got a 4g Nano and it's easypeasy, and about right for me - we also have a jack to plug our iPods into our midi system

Dh has ripped a lot of his CD's and laoded them onto his iPod but I tend to listen to more current stuff so I'm not buying anymore CD's now, just downloading.
