I think I may have been a twat. DD is working abroad and I said I'd get her a small car for when she comes home. She has a disability which means she only drives automatics. I have impulsively bought a Yaris (2008 plate).
When I rang to arrange a test drive I asked if it was a proper auto box - torque converter type. Man on phone said yes. I got in car and there was no D for drive. Just Reverse, Neutral and Economy. There is an option to move the gear lever across to put in manual (there's no clutch however).
Anyway, sat in car, sales man said put it in E for economy. I did. Took foot off brake and - nothing. I applied the tiniest bit of pressure and the car juddered forward. I kangarooed off the forecourt. I was assured by salesman that it was because he car was cold and all would be well.
I stupidly bought the car. Got it home yesterday and realised that DD will struggle with it. Not only does it lurch and kangaroo at low speeds and reverse, but it rolls back on hills. I've never had an auto do that in all my years! I'm so upset and realise I've been a twat buying it, but I just wanted to get her a nice car. Now I think said car will terrify her.
What i'm asking is do all Yaris autos do this or should I ask for my money back? (don't hold out much hope as garage will probably tell me fuck off).
Sorry its long.
