why is it sooo hard?

need to buy a car, have decided on picasso but now need to decide what kind. my little bruv (who is helping us as dh and i know chuff all about cars) is fairly adamant we should get a 2.0 hdi (a diesel) but there are not many about, loads of 1.6 but db reckons they are not so good.

i know this is sooo boring but if you have a picasso 2.0 hdi or 1.6 petrol please advise me? are you happy with it, is it reliable etc etc etc {smile]

(really need a pleading emoticon!)

We have the 2.0 hdi diesel and love it-wouldn't have any other car now.

WendyWeber · 09/06/2007 23:23

Not a Picasso but I have a diesel Zafira, recently had to use a petrol version for a couple of weeks and it used loads more fuel - so although a diesel car usually costs more, and diesel fuel def costs more, I reckon it's worth going for diesel.

i have on order the C4 grand picasso 7 seater it is 2.0 diesel, it is supposed to be good on fuel, will let you know when i get it on 25th.

horsemadgal · 10/06/2007 08:21

There's loads of 1.6 for a reason. They wouldn't pull you out of bed!! Need 1.8 at least.

BettySpaghetti · 10/06/2007 20:22

We have the 2.0 hdi Picasso and would agree that you do need this size of engine. Been really pleased with it generally.

The only downside is that its a bit rattly at times compared to the more solidly built VW we had before. However you do get more for your money with regards to extras like AirCon etc with the Picasso.

SlightlyMadStilton · 10/06/2007 22:31

There was a brand new 1.6(I think) diesel when we brough ours in 05. We test drove it and it was pretty good - felt like a petrol.

I think mine is a 1.8 diesel and it is good - the brand new 1.6 was actually higher bhp but more expensive which is why we had the 1.8.

I think, I think, I think in a girly waffley kind of way.

Test drive them and see what you think. Are you going new or used?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/06/2007 22:34

We have the 1.6 petrol. Its not so economical for short hops, but other than that i absolutely love it. Very reliable, lovely boot space, and storeage space. Air conditioning a must in any new car.

Be aware though - there is an issue with Picassos (dont know if its resolved yet), whereby the spare tyre is stored underneath the car, and it is very easy for folk to steal the tyre. We were told this at the time of hand over when we bought ours. We have had the tyre stolen twice now on our car and you just dont know unless you physically go to look for it under the car.

Bubbaloo · 11/06/2007 08:25

You can have a lock fitted though to stop the tyre being pinched. We were lucky as when we bought ours it already had a lock on it.

msappropriate · 11/06/2007 15:32

we had our tyre stolen on our old xsara and we paid to have another one but citroen paid to have a lock installed. If you phone their head office with a crime reference number they give you a code to give to a dealership to get it done.

Just found out my picasso is a 1.8 petrol.
