That stuff that looks like granite but is half the price. Good idea or false economy?

I've forgotten what's it called. Apparently it's very convincing though less shiny. And at a fraction of the price, it's very tempting. But is the real Mccoy worth shelling out for? I'm talking kitchen worktops here.

Oh, I can't remember! It starts with a C, i think, and I've heard it's very good. I'm interested, so here's hoping someone else comes along with all the proper info.

Aha! That triggered something. Corian? Corien?

Corian

NKF · 21/05/2007 21:06

If it's not cheaper why would someone buy it?

I think corian is at least as expensive as granite, if not more..

No don't think it's corian (which is expensive!) - that isn't that similar to granite.

I'm sure we were shown something similar to but less expensive than granite at Homebase. Can't remember the name though!

Don't think I've been much help!

SofiaAmes · 22/05/2007 14:39

I don't think it's actually a fraction of the price. Try having granite priced for the same location...it may not be as expensive as you think.

Had a look on homebase website - think it was Maia or Ophelia here

I didn't think it looked as nice as granite, plus if you really shop around you can usually get good deals on granite
