Honda Jazz to Hyundai i40 - too big?

I want to change my 58 reg Jazz because I don’t like the gear box. I was thinking of an i30 but they are thin on the ground. On spec I tried an i40 that was on the forecourt and loved it. It’s got great extras and as fantastic to drive. But I’m worried I’m going to find it too big after the Jazz, which I can park anywhere. I40 has rear camera and sensors etc (and I can actually park unlike DH some people) but the car parks where I live seem particularly tight.

Anyone got an i40 who can comment?

Driven the i40's and there bloody lovely! If your thinking the 40's too big look at the i20. You will find that you get very little extra's on them. Same for the i30's. 20's are about the same size as a jazz, possibly slightly smaller and are typically 1.2l engines.
The size will feel a lot different, but if your confident parking you should be fine. May just take a few months to remember it's a car and not a tank.
Ix35's are bloody lovely if you want something a bit higher of the ground. Similar to the small 4x4's you can get.

Thanks. I tried an iX35 as well but that was much noisier. The i40 was practically silent. Shame, because I like the look of them, even if DH did take the piss.

I have an i10 and really like it.

What do you need the car for? I’d always go for the smallest you need, easier to park, get through gaps etc. I like the fact i can often get parked because the 4x4’s and bigger vehicles can’t fit in the spaces I can.

Whichever model you go for, the hyundai’s have a good rep for economy and maintenance. I bought mine cheap second hand as a second car and it’s been great.

They are big but I would day there are many cars out there that are either of equal size or bigger. There will always be a suitable space but you may have to park a bit further away. I had a big 4 x 4 for a few days in December and it was far easier than I imagined😁

Just go for it
