Car seats and air bags

Can anyone help me with this query. Am buying DD2's front facing group 1 car seat and I want to get the Mamas and Papas pro tec one (same one as DD1).

It says on some sites that this is not to be used with a passenger airbag.

My car has got airbags in the side of the car seats at the back, if you can imagine where a seat belt lies down the side of the seat when it is not being used, the airbag is under that part of the seat.

I can't turn this airbag off.

Can I still use a car seat? Surely I must be able to as the car has isofix fittings (another blardy palava which I can't be arsed to go into).

Thanks

I think so, the airbags in the rear are to protect against side impact and I don't think they are as intrusive as the front ones.
To be sure I'd contact the car manufacturer.

I think it might mean the airbag that the front passenger seat would contain
I think?

I think the airbag they mean is the one in the dashboard.
If this deployed with a rear facing seat, bub's face would get squashed into back of seat.
