Which music player for a 9yo? Don't want more screen time or a phone.

My DC want music players for Christmas plus docking station - specifically ipods. I'm reluctant due to £££ price.
(They already have CD players but see this as old school)
MP3 players are cheaper but don't link to any apps.
They have tablets (kindle fire) but I have limited their time on them (as they are complete screen addicts) and I don't want them getting more screen time.
But I'd like them to have something like Spotify - or some other paid, legal music listening app. Any clues please??

We all have Clipjams in our family. We link them to our own playlist on iTunes.

They’re really small and portable and you can increase the memory with SD cards.
