After a few months of an intermittent grinding noise, and a week of a burning smell, our washer/dryer has given up the ghost. Engineer due out tomorrow but has said probably not much point in repairing due to its make. (it was a cheapo bought in desperation a few years back)

I want to replace it with a washing machine, NOT a washer/dryer. (have weaned myself off the tumble dryer part, can cope without it, save some money and some of the planet...

Sooo, budget probably only £300, can you recommend me a simple (only ever use one programme anyway) no frills, no fuss, solid, longlasting washing machine???

TIA
xx

No worries Blessed! Dh had the day off, so went to get his morning paper, and returned with a washing machine on a trolley

It is a classixx Bosch, basic model, he haggled a bit and got it for £280!

Very pleased with it. The house resembles a chinese laundry as I am catching up with it all. [exhausted emoticon needed]

Thanks for all your help.

I know you have your machine now but for anyone else looking check out www.washerhelp.co.uk.

This chap is a washing machine engineer and goes into lots of detail about various brands.
