Cover to stop child seats damaging car seats?

Has anyone used anything to put under child seats to protect their car seats?
We have a new car, when we sold the old car the rear seats were quite marked / damaged / compressed from the child seats we were using.
I'm wondering about buying a sheet of neoprene or similar to put under the child seats.
