Beach sandals: plastic or fabric?

We need to buy some beach sandals for our toddler.
What do you think about plastic (e.g. Crocs, or plastic Birkenstock) vs fabric straps?

Plastic sandals dry in minutes, whereas non-plastic straps can stay damp for a day or so. I prefer plastic when my sandals are wet and non-plastic when dry; I find that damp straps cause chafing and blisters, but it must be very subjective, as there are people hiking on Crocs, and people submerging Tevas in the sea.

What do you find works for your little ones?

PS I don't like clogs because I think the fit is too loose, and toddlers probably need a tighter fitting heel loop as they're always running around, but Crocs also make sandals with a better fit

I always get timberland sandals. They make two colours every year so you can usually get ones you like from Amazon. They are waterproof but don't feel plastic-ey. They dry quickly. Crocs are good too.

Thanks. What do you mean by quickly? A few hours?
