Anyone got a Mini Cooper S?

I fancy one, as I really don't like my Smart ForFour especially after all the trouble we have had with it. Not thinking of buying straight away regardless but interested in what others think of them? Are they a good drive? What extras did you get on it - were they worth it?

I have a mini. It is a real (original) mini. I have a maxi cosi car seat and a quinny zap. It is brilliant. I wouldn't go on a trip of over 50 miles in it though

I have a Mini Cooper S. It is lovely. I would go for the Chilli pack (cd player and some other stuff, from what I can remember) as it seems that is improves resale. Also the tlc cover is good.

Yes, DH has already said I'd need the Chilli pack.

So those with one, esp the Cooper S model, - what is it like on the motorway, and on longer journeys?

I've got one. It's lovely and after driving a BMW X3 for the last 2 years it's fab! It's not great for the shopping, or the kids, but sod that! I got some John Cooper Works wheels which were stupid money but black on the inside and they look good (except when I scuff them on the kerb - oops!). I got a chilli pack and the fancy stereo upgrade (harmon something) and leather and cloth seats. I had to compromise a bit because of the wheels. And a chrome bonnet scoop and a chrome pack. (I'm looking out the window at it and trying to see what it has on it!). I would also recommend going to Sandal Mini in Wakefield as you are in Sheffield, the customer care there is really, really good (after purchase too). One thing I would say is not to get a 6 cd changer in the boot. It takes up a fair bit of (precious) space and the ride is quite hard in minis so the CDs jump. You'd be better getting an aux input put in and use an ipod instead (I've done that and it's much better). I'd buy second hand too. Mine was new and they lose quite a bit of money in the first 6 mths.

I drove for two hours on the motorway and I was great. I 'flew' along enjoying every minute.

My friend has one - she is 33, blonde, slim and stunning!!!

It's gorgeous - I've already said I'll take it off her hands in a few years time, when she starts having babies!

Thanks.

Will look at the aux socket - have one in DH's car and it is ideal. Not bothered about 6 disk CD - had them before adnd found I didn't use it much. Tend to listen to radio in car mainly.

I am fancing red (DH reckons blue) with white strips down bonnet, white roof, white door handles and white wheels.

We will probably get new though as looking at leasing it this time.

And I'm not menopausal or middle aged or fat!
It's great on the motorway,it goes very very quickly. Mine is now a year old and DH says that the new one is even better because of the changes to the engine (but the bonnet scoop is no longer necessary and just a bit of decoration). I've had a mini one and a cooper and both were nice to drive, but the cooper s is special!!!! Next one is a cooper s works, but DH has told me I have to wait a bit for that! (can you tell I love it?, I'm really sad!) Oh, and the quinny Zapp fits in the boot like a dream (you even get a couple of ahopping bags in as well).

gingermonkey · 27/02/2007 21:22

The white wheels get really dirty, really quickly and scratch easily (they told me in the mini garage, which I thought was very honest of them). They look really good though.

Yes and I love mine
