Toys for 8 year old girl?

Tell me what toys 8 year old girls play with? When I was that age it was Barbies but that was like 100 years ago so things may get be different now I need to buy a present but I don't know anything about her interests etc

My DD is 7.5 and she's really into Lego and Dc Superhero Girls. These 2 things pretty much make up her entire Christmas list!

Varies massively. Most like stationery- Smiggle is the holy grail!
None of Dd's 7 and 8 year old friends play with barbies but I'm sure lots must do still. Lots of them like soft toys though-especially the talking/moving ones or beanie boos.
Lego is fairly popular.

mine loves shopkins, lego and sylvanean families.

My 8-year-old dd's christmas list included a xylophone, a magic kit, a slime making kit, and a 'super cute' toy cat/dog.

She's gone off Lego a bit, but I think may just be moving between using all the different bits to make whatever she wants to play with and enjoying following instructions to build more specific things.
