Motorola Razr - Yay or Nay?

Being offered one cheap instead of my trusty nokia...

It looks sooo pretty but I am wary.

So - real MN user opinions? Good move or bad?

My main thing is a need for predicitive text!! I use phones for texts mainly, so its text easiness is the most important thing for me.

Tell me your views

yes, they are lovely phones,. my black one is looking battered (v3) had it over a year so have just upgraded to a purple V3i. i need a contract phone so though i may as well take advantage of the free upgrade. its nice and slim, easwy to use and the pics are great. and USB link to the pc

I've got one and I love it. But there are battery problems with them still.......mine sometimes switches itself off with out warning.

Also how do you turn the predictive text on. My NOkia you just had to press the keys on which the letter appeared to get the predictive text to work, with the Razr you have to get to the actual letter to get it to guess.

Glitterygookwithchocsonthetree · 19/12/2006 11:05

Some people don't seem to like them but I am happy with mine - I find texting very easy on it (my friend was watching me text the other week and she was stunned at how fast I was doing it). It's nice and slim so when I go on the school run I can just put it in my back pocket and it fits into small bags for nights out.

I'm not big into phones though - dh has an all singing all dancing one with a sooper dooper camera but I'm not bothered as long as I can make and receive calls, text and it's small.

She has agreed that I can try it out for a few days before deciding

Dh hates his one. Keeps trying to swap with mine - oh no no no! Also the glass cracked on his.

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 19/12/2006 14:07

No, don't do it!

The battery on them really is crap. My aunt and I both had them for about 6 months before batterly life went down to about 6 hours.
The screen went on mine, all white with pretty blue lines on it.
The speaker kept cutting out and I had to keep using it on bluetooth.

They look pretty but are rubbish.

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 19/12/2006 14:13

How can opinions be sooo different with one phone?!!?

Thinking the trial run is definately the best plan!

DH had one. The predictive text was great (one of the best implementations of it I've seen) but the interface in general was annoying, and the Contacts really, really annoying (you can only jump to the initial letter of the name, rather than as with most phones keep typing letters of the name and jump to the right point in the list). The repeated beeping when you get a message was very annoying too.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 19/12/2006 14:15

my battery is fine, trying to decide what to do with my old phone v3, not too sure.

the v3i is lovely, you get a little micro storage card thingy which is cool.

Glitterygookwithchocsonthetree · 19/12/2006 14:26

Oh I like the repeat beeping cos sometimes I leave my phone upstairs and I don't pick it up for ages - the little beep lets me know I got a message yonks ago - otherwise I wouldn't pick up messages till much later.

No battery problems with mine either.

glitterfairyonachristmastree · 19/12/2006 14:26

Love the look hate the phone. Interface annoying and completely not inuitive especially after a nokia. Battery absolutely rubbish. Cant wait to swap mine next year.

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 19/12/2006 14:29

I have the pink one. Love it but.......

the picture quality is crap and sometimes when its been charged, it decides it isnt at all and zaps all the power out of it. Dont know why.
Have had it a year now and no major problems.

pooka · 19/12/2006 14:37

Love mine. Didn't take long to make the switch from nokia to motorola interface. Nice and dinky but feels solid.
Am really very keen. Like it folding because means I don't accidentally make phonecalls when it's bumped in my bag like my nokia did (always forgot to lock it).

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 19/12/2006 17:14

Ahh, my nokia is set to lock after 30 seconds or soemthing so I never have that issue. I get to borrow the phone over christmas
