dds had a china tea set. my sil bought it for them in Ethiopia. disaster struck tonight and the whole lot got smashed. I have never seen quite such an out-pouring of grief - I almost cried myself they were so upset. tbh they're nothing special - they're ten a penny throughout the Middle East and in Ethiopia and I'm sure in many other countries. They're small tea cups - espresso sized with slightly old lady flowered patterns on. I reckoned that either the richness of London or the plain old internet would enable me to replace them. so I promised. A prelimary google hasn't helped - so anyone got any bright ideas. anyone know where London's Ethiopians live and where they buy their tea cups from?

you know what - I could be wrong - but I think somewhere around my house I have my old tea set (china one if I remember correctly) still in it's box from when I was a little girl.......I know no.3 is on the way - but with 2 DS's already I don't think I could bare letting DC3 having it to play with even if it's a girl.

I could be wrong - and dreaming it - but I'm sure it's still around somewhere - I can look it out tomorrow (or in next 2/3 days) and post a picutre if you want??

do you know what? I love mn. love it love it love it. The cups are really not such a big deal. The girls will get over it and I'll find replacements of some sort without too much ado. HRH if you ever did find time to take a photo I would be really touched, but please don;t go to any trouble. I have to go to bed now. but I feel all warm and gooey.

hatwoman - I'll ask DH where it is when he gets in (he's more likely to remember where in the house it is than I am LOL). And I'll take a photo for you.

if it's still here (as I'm 99% sure it is) then you're more than welcome to have it if you want it - it seems a shame for it to just sit here if there's someone desperate for a new set

DD has a set of 4 cups & saucers which are very old ladyish, pink rose and some leaves; sound similar to what you're looking for but def not Ethiopian. My mum got them from a mail order thing last year. I'd stick a pic of them up (have just taken one) if someone tells me how to do it. If they're any good I'll ask mum tomorrow which catalogue she got them from (if she can remember!). Good luck anyway.
