I'm sure I saw a thread about the best name tag things to use, but are they woven or transfer or what??? Or just use a pen? What's the best to use?

Depends on what you're labelling IME. Although fiddly, I like woven labels on clothes as they stay put, are easily read, don't fade and can be removed for subsequent siblings/passed on to others!. Whereas iron-on get scratchy if they are on the neck area, and write- on do fade after a time.

i just use a permanent pen and redo when it gets worn off. i can't be bothered to sew things in they get through uniforms so quickly

DO you have to sew woven ones? I can't sew!

Biro, then check every few weeks it's still legible.
Apparently the iron on ones are quite good.

iron on tags good.....

or permanent marker on the labels.....

and clarks do personalised labels for inside shoes & pumps

Got a fabric marker pen from Mothercare in September (99p, nr small items around till area) and despite washing shirts every day, DSs name is still clearly legible 7 weeks into term.

After faffing about with iron-on things that never stayed put, I also use a fabric marker pen.

I use a laundry marker too. All that faffing about sewing or ironing? Just a quick go with the pen and you're away, easy peasy.
