Citroen Picasso - 3 child seats across the back?

Does a Citroen Picasso take 3 child seats (baby and 2 boosters) across the back seats?
Have just realised that my Renault Scenic doesn't.

Yes it does - the back has 3 individual seats rather than one bench seat.

BadHair · 02/10/2006 13:31

Do the child seats actually fit properly on them, though? My Scenic has 3 individual seats but when I've put the child seats in they all press up against each other.

I don't have 3 in permanently, but have used booster cushion, high back booster and second stage carseat (dd is 15 months) all together several times and they fit fine.

BH, Don't mean to worry you here but car seats are not meant to rub or lie against each other at all - there needs to be space between all of them in case of an accident. I was told this by a Halfords trained car seat fitter when we bought our last car seat.

BadHair · 02/10/2006 13:41

I know, Twohoots, that's exactly the reason why I need to find a car that fits 3 seats properly. I've got 7 months to find one, so not exactly a huge rush, but want to get organised.

MrsF, thanks, it sounds like a Picasso might just be the one for me.

Our neighbours have just bought a volvo v70 estate (may not be what you are looking for) but apparently the garage recommended they'd get 3 seats of any description alongside each other with space... Failing that what about a 7 seater - thought about the new Ford SMax?

Hope you get it sorted. It must be a nightmare for people with three kids!

imnot27 · 02/10/2006 20:03

In Whatcar, says that new Ford S-Max is best car for fitting 3 seats across the back. Hope this helps!

Kidstrack · 02/10/2006 20:09

if the child is over 3 yrs and more than 2 car/booster seats won't fit then a seat belt may be used! Think thats correct, or you may put the booster seat for the third child in the front seat providing there is no airbag.

Just thought, my friend has Nissan XTrail with three seats across the back, works really well (if you can bear the hassle of driving 4x4...). We have Zafira, and three seats DON'T fit across the back, just so you know!

porpoise · 02/10/2006 20:14

Badhair, We have a Picasso too and have a child's (stage 2) car seat in the middle back seat and two boosters either side. And they fit fine - no rubbing or touching. It was also fine when the middle seat was a stage 1 baby seat. HTH

imnot27 · 02/10/2006 20:47

Porpoise and Badhair, do you like your Picassos? I generally thought Citroens are unreliable, but have heard good things about Picasso. Need to replace my Zafira, as it doesn't fit three across the back!!

bluesky · 02/10/2006 20:52

The Picasso is a fantastic car, we had ours for over 3 yrs, brilliant for kids and going on hoildays, and it was great how you could lift out the 3 rear seats individually depending on what luggage you had etc.

We never had a problem with it and it onl;y ever went to the garage for its annual service.

porpoise · 02/10/2006 20:56

Yes, it's OK I'mnot27: we've had it four or five years and not had any problems at all. It's nice to drive, too.
Bit tricky to get the hang of parking it at first - it curves out at the back and the front a bit further than you imagine from looking through the windscreen/backview mirror.
The only drawback I can see is the speedometer - which is digital, so my dss can all read it from the back seat and keep shouting out, 'Mummy, you're doing 31 - that's naughty!'

imnot27 · 03/10/2006 11:05

Thanks for letting me know, will have a little look on Autotrader!

JoPG · 03/10/2006 11:26

Lol porpoise, my DS does that too! 'You're going too fast Mummy, a policeman might see you'

misdee · 03/10/2006 11:28

bad hair, try putting the baby seat in the middle between the 2 boosters. if i put the 2 boosters together in the back of our car they rub. if i put the baby seat in the middle (now in a britax eclipse) because the base is small on the eclipse they fit better.

JayDee30 · 03/10/2021 12:12

Hi. Is the Picasso you are talking about here a C3 Picasso? I am looking for a smallish car that will fit a car seat, high-back booster and small adult in the back. I'm leaning towards the C3 Picasso, but want to confirm with someone who had one that this combo would actually work before buying one. Many thanks for any tips!
