Is it possible to get a small car with lots of adult passenger legroom?

Passed my test a few months ago and DP is finding our Renault Clio a little bit small now he's relegated to the passenger seat (he's 6 foot plus!). I'm still a pretty nervous driver (and rubbish parker!) so not keen on getting a massive MPV and wondering if there is something in the middle size-wise that will give him the legroom but not terrify me?

We mostly do short inner city driving so it needs to be nippy to get in and around all the parked cars! Needs to fit 2 car seats and occasionally squash a third adult in between.

We'd consider spending between £15k and £25k for a new one.

Thanks in advance!

What about something like a golf or polo? My dad has a golf and we've had four adults in it comfortably. Or a ford focus? They're quite roomy.

I have a Hyundai I10 and that's quite roomy. DH is over 6 ft and he's happy enough in it. Also friends have commented on the room in the back. And just 10K is more than enough for one of those!

Thanks for those tips-will look into all of them!

I have a Skoda fabia and DH finds that it has lots of room, far more than my old Clio!

I think that the headroom in Clios is dreadful. I've swapped from a Clio to a Micra* and even that has a good few inches more headroom than the Clio!

  • No good for you though as you'd not get the adult squeezed in the back.

How about a ford fusion , DH is over six foot plenty of head room ,quite nippy ,good on fuel , loads of room for buggys and shopping in boot.
