Before we spend stupid amounts on a huge mattress I'd really appreciate it if anyone that has a super king mattress they love, or have had a while and that's stood the test of time/children could please let me know which one to buy. Such a boring post, sorry.

Hello,

I have had a super king size wooden slatted bed for nearly 10 years and got some very good advice when buying my mattress: to prevent sagging in the middle buy two 3ft mattresses that zip together. This works particularly well if you and your partner are uneven sizes, or if you have a partner who wriggles a lot! It doesn't fix snoring though!!!
I bought mine from a London-based company called Norris Bedding who have been making mattresses since the 1930s and it was worth every penny and they are more than happy to advise you on the phone as to what you want and need. I worried about there being a ridge down the middle with the seams/zips but honestly you cannot feel it. You can also turn the mattresses much more easily. I recently bought a luxury mattress topper from John Lewis too and the bed is just heaven!!

Best of luck!

We recently bought a Harrison super king mattress - not cheap, but not the most expensive either. It is mega comfy and they will make it different firmness on each side if you and your partner like different comfort levels.

They make lots of different qualities and types. We bought the pearl 6000 which isn't their top quality but is way better than most other mattresses around.

John Lewis is worth a look too.

We did think about zip and link, which does work well, but it is much more expensive than buying one mattress.

Warren Evans natural mattress. I LOVE. it is very comfortable and organic and anti-mite because it's made with wool.

It does smell a bit farmyardy for the first few weeks though.

Vi spring. Totes amaze balls. Far more than I ever dreamt of spending on a bed but it is amazing. Like earlier poster we have 2 3' mattresses zipped together. DH weighs more than me so he has a 'firm' mattress and I have a 'medium'. Love love love it.

We got our bed from And So To Bed (sale purchase) It's super king size and has a Vispring base and mattress.

It all cost about as much as a small car, and weighs about the same too, but we've had it for around six years maybe, no signs of wear and a really comfortable night's sleep every night. My only issue is that I lose DH in it.

loletta - you are so right - "soft but supportive" - bliss!

We have a Hypnos Ortho zip and link for the past 15 years. One mattress beginning to go (dh's).
Blissful
