I am pregnant with my second child when should I buy new double pram?

Hello

I am pregnant with my second child and have been looking at the Phil & Teds E3 or Jane Powertwin. My second is due in January and I am not sure when to purchase a new twin pram. Don't want to leave it to the last minute but then don't want to buy too early either.

Any feedback would be great and also where is the best place to buy a Phil & Ted or Jane (best price).

Many thanks
Foxy

how old is your first??

Buy it in the sales just after christmas. Although, depending on how old your first is, a buggboard might be fine to add on to what you have now. If you get the buggyboard a few months before baby is due then you can attach and get your older one used to using that before the baby takes his/her seat.

My first will be 1 year 9 months when the next is born. Thanks

is your first a good walker?? I personally wouldn't fork out for a double pram when my oldest was that sort of age. It's amazing how quickly their walking can come on - and I'd buy a buggy board.

Hi

had similar thing, pg with 2nd, although my first is a little older (2.4 when baby comes.)

Decided on phil and teds, as I like 3 wheelers anyways, but like the fact that as ds is already 2 it can just have the back seat taken off and just be a single. SO it's a double for a big day out where he might get tired, and a single to encourage him to walk.

I tried to buy it in April, but got fobbed off by company until now! It's meant to be coming monday (my due date is saturday!) so don't know which will be here first.

However I used that company for a particular reason, nothing to do with the pushchair or price. The cheapest I believe is kiddicare or twoleftfeet, but there's a few rumours about twoleftfeet being a bit rubbish for actually delivering what you pay for. I have no idea personally, I've just been warned off them by other MNers. Having said that, there's someone on ebay who sells new phil and teds and they always go pretty cheaply.

I would go with a jane personally - i love the look of them.

I ended up with a M&P twin aria because of my height(im a short arse!) and it was a godsend until recently (Jess is 2.1 and becky is 10months)

I now have 2 singles for big days out (dont do them alone!) and get Jess to walk as much as she can - which isnt a lot.

Looking into getting a buggy board now for the new single, but I would definately go with a double - even if its just for 6 months and then sell it on.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I do prefer the phil and ted option purely for the versatility. The question is when do I buy it if the baby is due in Jan. Which colour are you going for Lunavix. Thanks again

I will prob go with the jane, but there is going to be a smaller age gap, DD1 will only just be 14 ish mths when new baby arrives. The Jane looks good and if you do a search on ebay shops, they come in at about 70-90 pounds cheaper than in the shops!

foxy - I'm going for charcoal. I don't like the bright green or orange, i like the sand but it will show up dirt too easy.

I don't want red as the scan showed this baby is likely to be a girl (pink and red clash!)

They tried fobbing us off with navy, but I really wanted the charcoal one.

foxy1 · 16/08/2006 13:51

I think charcoal is the most versatile. Do you think I should leave it until later in the year to buy it??? Baby due Jan thanks

foxy I would wait until oct/nov time unless you are going to use it as a single now and just add doubles kit when db arrives.

We'd have liked to have it for at least a month to get ds used to it before the baby came. Having said that, I'd have liked to have it before then just to know it was sorted - as I said I tried to get it in April but they've fobbed me off till now.

Whenever you're happy really, and also dependent on if you're putting your eldest in it first? Bearing in mind with a newborn your eldest won't be in the main seat, but the second seat sitting on top.
