car seat for vauxhall corsa

Hey all - just read the postings about the Zafira, and have the same problem finding a 9-18kg car seat for a Corsa.
Has anyone got any recommendations?
Mothercare staff raised their eyebrows and said Corsas were really bad, they tried 8 different seats and told me that none of them were safe, and I could see that they were all wobbling around all over the place, and most of them got the infamous buckle crunch.
I tried the protec from JOhn LEwis, so had to fit it myself in a hot dark car park and got too grumpy to know if it did fit or not (it seemed quite difficult, but I was in a bad mood ).

What model year Corsa?

my parents have a Maxi-Cosi Priori XP forward facing car seat from mothercare ready for my nephew as they found this one fitted the best in my mum's car.

It's a T-reg corsa, so no isofix stuff.
