What are the hardest wearing school shoes for small, football-loving boys?

I bought DS (6) some Hush Puppies school shoes at the start of term, from TK Maxx so quite a bargain...I thought. They looked scuffed very quickly and now are starting to fall apart so he's going to need new shoes very soon. He spends most of break and lunchtime playing football so they need to be as tough as possible!

He had Clarks shoes in Reception that almost made it to the end of the year before disintegrating. Is it worth paying more for Geox and hoping he doesn't have a growth spurt? Any recommendations?

Shameless bump for the evening crowd. His shoes are now in a dire state, even the tongue is coming apart..Hmm

DS1 plays football every break time. His Clarks shoes cope well.

DS1 has had the same type of shoe each year at school - they are the Clarks "Stompo Day* shoes. They seem to be really sturdy and no falling apart in the slightest, hence me buying them each year (he's in Y2 now). I have no experience of any other school shoes though.

M and S have always been good for us

We've had mixed experience of Clarks. Some have lasted well, others have disintegrated in weeks.

Thanks! I like the look of the Stompo Day - rubber toes sounds like a good idea!
