2 books I loved if your ds/dd likes dinosaurs

Just found 2 books that my 4yo ds loved today, obsessed as he is with dinosaurs and beasts.

One is a "magic torch" book with black acetate pages of dinosaur pictures: you put a "torch" of white paper underneath to illuminate the various dinosaurs - ds asked me whether it was 'real magic mummy?' It's called Lets Look At Dinosaurs and is a Torch Light book published by moonlight publishing.

The other is called "A Night in the Dinosaur Graveyard" from Templar publishing and is full of realistic dinosaur holograms. Might be scary for younger ones but mine knows they're extinct and wasn't phased by the idea of dinosaur ghosts. Anyway, he loved them both - thought I'd pass it on in case there are other similarly interested out there.

Have you seen 'Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs'? It is really good but maybe a bit young for a 4 year old.

Ds is 16 months and consequently not v interested in the story book but loves his bucketful of dinosaurs. V much a favourite at the moment. I can't wait until he wants to read "Harry & the Dinosaurs that say Raaaaaaaaaah!". The wee boy upstairs who is 4 likes the whole Harry & series. Would definitely recommend.

PS He only has it 'cos his name is Harry; suppose we have the whole HP thing to get through later.

Thanks, will look for that!

Brilliant - I've written the titles down. My nearly 3 year old is also obsessed with dinosaurs. His most favourite thing at the moment is a pack of dinosaur top trumps one of my friends brought him. He's got dinosaur socks, a dinosaur t-shirt, more plastic dinosaurs than you can shake a stick at and we've had every single dinosaur book out of the library three times over.

We took ds to the natural history museum last week, but unfortunately the dinosaur noises and the robotic ones really scared him!

Just found a great website with lots of things to do - and a whole section on dinosaurs! Printouts for colouring, education, things to make etc. I've just printed out a template to make a stegasaurus birthday cake and some finger puppet models. Its also got printouts to make your own colouring books, calendars and cards.

The address is www.enchantedlearning.com. At the moment, its free, but they do ask for donations. I've only just looked at the dinosaur section, which I think is fab, but the rest looks good too!

thanks, we just looked and ds loved it!

Littler ones might like 'Dinosaur Roar' - my 2yo dd knows it off by heart and every time she sees a dino she shouts 'RRRRRRRRRRRROARRRRRRR!!!!!!!!'

Second the vote for Dinosaurs Roar! for 2 year olds - my dd loves the 'big' and 'tiny' dinosaurs.

susanmt · 05/04/2002 08:37

And in Dinosaur Roar my dd loves the page with Dinosaur Sweet, Dinosaur Grumpy - except she says Donsaur Daddy, Dinosaur Mummy and I am the sweet one!!! Daddy doesn't like it so much! She made it up herself!

The Dinosaur Stomp is another brilliant book. We read it ALOT!!!

AliH · 09/04/2002 16:32

For lovers of Dinasour Roar, have you seen the giant Dinasour floor dominoes which go with it?

AliH · 09/04/2002 16:33

Oops, can't spell Dinosaur obviously
