Kindle Touch problem - Help! It sometimes jumps randomly ahead when all I want to do is to turn the page

Does anyone else have this happen?

I'm reading, lightly tap to turn the page as usual, then suddenly I'm transported whole chapters ahead of where I should be and lose my place cos I can't find where I wasConfused.

I've only had my Kindle about 3/4 weeks. Do I need to be doing resets or restart thingies already?Hmm I keep it well charged up and only have two books on it atm both bought from Amazon Kindle store.

I do love my new Kindle. Is it unwell?Sad

If it is jumping to the beginning of thenext chapter you are maybe stroking down slightly.

I thought it could be my tapping tecnique - although I've always been very light and quick. I've been extra careful, but it's still happens.

Also it doesn't seem to take me directly to the start of the next chapter, just dumps me in a random place some way ahead. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough to be a bit annoying.

If it's not the start of the chapter then I'm not sure what it is. Not come across that.

Sad Oh dear, maybe my poor Kindle is sick. Perhaps I need to speak to customer service.

I had to send THREE kindles back because of this. I finally got a working one, but it annoyed me so much I gave it to my kid and bought myself a Sony. I had a Sony before and it lasted three years without any problems. Still, my mum and stepdad both have kindles and never had any problems, think I was unlucky.

WerthersUnOriginal · 06/08/2012 10:20

Oh no! You've had this problem three times? So it must be something they're aware of...I think I'd better say something whilst it's still new.

yes Id get onto customer service. They will tell you to do a reset, but if the problem persists they will send you a new one.

Thanks to you both Lemon and Glastocat.

I find that mine changes the font size sometimes, without going via the menu. Just when I've been holding it. Had I wanted to change the font size, without going via the menu, it wouldn't have done it in a million years.
