Embarrasingly big tummy (i look pregnant). I wondered about 'spa slim capsule' or any other ideas for quick fix solution for social event 10 days time

I have an embarrassingly big protruding tummy and strangers keep hinting about pregnancy (which isn't the case and both children at school).
Anyone any ideas for quick solution before social event in 10 days time?
A local health club are advertising a spa slimming capsule (vigorous fully clothed massage system using high pressured water jets which claims to assist with weight loss, cellulite reduction and reducing body circumference/inch loss.. Has anyone tried one or know of any other quick fix solutions?

Just get the special knickers. Cheaper and easier. Be aware that you can't eat lots while wearing them.

Buy a corset. It'll work better, and you'll have it for next time. If you get a good one (look for tightlacing/waist training) you can take at least 4" off your waist

'shape'underwear - 2 pairs if necessary - it won't get rid of bulge completely but it will reduce and smooth. i think my post preggers pants from jojomamanbebe are better than the trinny & susannah jobs fwiw!

quick fix for bloating is to go on an extremely low carb diet
well it works for me

one week of just protein and low carb vegs , you'll pee loads

keep your bowels going with psyllium husk from chemist

Thanks all I am sick of my protruding belly and strangers hinting about pregnancy it's really embarrassing for me and them it's getting me down. I have tried various 'hold your belly in' knickers before but I find them extremely uncomfortable and as I am very tall they are never quite long enough so I end up with another bulge under my boobs :-(

Please go and see your GP as well. Please. I don't, really don't, want to scare you but a bloated pregnant-like tummy can be an indication of various not very nice conditions. (I am a health journalist, and have to write about this stuff from time to time.)

Brighteyes27 · 06/06/2012 20:37

My gp isn't very sympathetic it does look like I am pregnant and look much worse in some clothes than others

Please, even if your GP is not sympathetic, go and ask to be checked. I seriously do not want to scare you but it could be unpleasant.

I tend to have a big tummy. I did BIWI's low carb bootcamp and after 5days I had lost 5lbs and 2inches off my waist. Although I don't follow the low carb now, I eat lower carb than I did before and I have found there are a few foods that definitely bloat me - shop bought bread is the worst, as well as most sugary foods.

If you do a search for BIWI low carb bootcamp you will find the thread with all the 'rules' and a list of allowed veg.
