Go into the library with it and ask them to set it up for you. I get them on my iPad and they were most helpful.

Is the library using Overdrive? As far as I know Overdrive doesn't yet support kindle format, but a bit of creative googling of Calibre and converting Overdrive files for kindle might be useful.

One thing to be aware of is that the library ebooks may have DRM (digital rights management), which may cause you some issues, but google is your friend.

My library used Overdrive and I can get books on my iPad but it doesn't support kindle. The best thing is to go in and ask.

Dont think you can. Kindles only normally take kindle books if that makes any sense!

Your can't download library books onto Kindles from Dorset libraries, only onto Kobo and Sony, Kindle won't agree to it which is a pain.

No, there are other formats Kindle will support, like PDFs. Worth asking at the library and then seeing if Calibre might be able to help at all.

in the email from our library it says they dont support kindle e-readers. This is what it says:

A desktop PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone with internet access enabled or a wifi enabled e-reader. Please note that the Amazon Kindle eBook reader is not compatible with our eBook lending system. Amazon at present does not allow libraries in the UK to access their e-book systems.

Thanks everyone, will have a look at calibre and see what I can do Smile.
