Can anyone tell me about renault grand scenics? Would I be mad to swap my reliable 4x4 for one?

I am looking at one tomorrow.

A 1.9 diesel.

Currently driving a rav4, 2l petrol, 5 door. Love it but it's expensive to run and the back seats are tiny. We are off to France in August and I feel sorry for my 3dc squashed in the back!

It looks like the scenic will be cheaper to run plus I want the extra seats so I can take dniece out and away with us.

Any thoughts?

There is no boot on a zafira with the seats up if you need to get suitcases and pushchairs etc in, I love my galaxy we were talking about what we would get next and only could say a newer galaxy as its ideal for our family and I'm a childminder do have car seats in every seat plus have a boot. Never looked at c4's but I know a few childminders have them for space, kia Sedonas are supposed to be roomy too.

I think a desiel might be cheaper. Mine varies from 19mpg to about 32 mpg - (the computer screen can show me this). At the moment I average £30 per week in petrol. That is 3/4 days of school run - 1.5 miles each way. Tesco run once or twice a week (about 2 miles each way), driving to work (18 miles per day x2). Plus some other scooting about to clubs/swimming pool. I think it is usually about 130 miles per week.

Reliability wise it has been good. I have had it nearly two years and I will try to remember what has had to be done.
Annual service, new handle for one of the rear doors (DS pulled it off Hmm) and a new battery for key (under £5). Had the RAC out a couple of times when DS has fiddled with the switches and run the battery down - but easy to fix both times and no new battery needed. So for us has been reliable... and I always have cars that break down a lot usually!

Inside I like how the seats adjust, how roomy they are, and the high up driving position. I also like the electronic hand brake. I would definitely get another one but would probably get a desiel next time.

We went on holiday for a week in ours with 6 people in the car. Smile
