We are currently overseas and due back in the UK at 33 weeks pregnant so time will be short to acquire any items not donated by family. We will be living in South West London/Surrey so where do you recommend we go to try out expensive items like car seats and buggies?
I have back/neck problems and am short so we probably do need to try these things before we buy to check portability and weight.
Your recommendations would be much appreciated.

Yes, do John Lewis. Bluewater is a bit less stressful than Oxford street if you can get there.

Baby Barn in Chessington has a good range and you can park outside the door so they'll try out car sears, put pushchairs in boots etc to check for fit.

ooh, thanks for the tip Gwendoline. I did not know about Baby Barn in Chessington - but it sounds perfect!

Failing that I shall brave John Lewis!

DH has his heart set on a British made Micralite with the Maxi Cosi car seat but I need to try it..... all the pushchairs & travel systems seem so expensive though :(

might be a little out of the way (depending on where in surrey you'll be) but Daniels in Windsor are fab and there's also a big Mothercare in Slough too.
