Trade in price - how close should this be to price of similar car in auto-trader

You generally lose quite a lot - have a look on this website. I just clicked the first version of the Trajet on the list, might not be the exact match for your car, but part exchange you would get £1290, selling it private you might get £1400, and to buy the exact same car from a Hyundai garage would set you back £2k. I suppose they have overheads..... So actually if yours needs £3k work doing, then technically it's a write off!! Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear.
