I'm at the end of my phone contract and I have been reallt unsure for weeks whether to get a new basic smart phone or cancel my contract and get a pay as you go sim - stick with my phone and get an iphone or nano.

I only have a minimal contract (£15) and dont use the minutes I have. am very tempted by apps though (although dont know if i REALLY NEED them). I should be saving money so going PAYG would probably save £5 a month or so.
we only have one laptop and I could probably use the phone or ipod to surf when I cant prise my dp off the computer. But dont want to spend more than the current contract and think the phones might be rubbish

what to do?

I use an ipod touch and a shite phone on a sim only contract. I only use my phone to text and i use predictive which i find easier than typing on the qwerty keypad on an iphone.

I use apps a lot on at home use my ipod to pick up emails, surf the net and mumsnet. I dont have 3g on my touch so i cant use it outside of wireless areas etc but it suits me well. Like a discreet ipad. I use the kindle app on it to read, kids apps to keep dd entertained. Its a pain if im
Out and want to mnet but then i steal dh's iphone.

I am currently on hold with my mobile provider asking about iPhone contracts as my contract ends soon. I have an Itouch and a cheaper Samsung smartphone. I also have an iPad.

Here is what I have found.....wifi is not enough. I use my iPad mostly at home, sometimes the Itouch. Both on wifi. But when out, I crave the use of an iPhone. The smartphone is just not the same. And everything I have synchs seamlessly except the phone. Plus I end up carrying around minimum two things.

Thus is now two years down the line by the way, so I have had plenty of time to get used to it, and I haven't. I would get th iPhone if I was you.

You can have an iPhone 3gs at tmobile for 15 a month. I saw it advertised last week.

Thrifty- i got that deal in december, 60 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited browsing for £15pm - its a 24 month contract but still worth it IMO

Keep yr old phone but go on to sim. Then get an iPad. It can do everything an iPhone can except make calls. And you get apps, Kindle books as well as iBooks, and bigger screen to read them on.

Yehudiwho - no radio on iphone but you can download a free radio app
