Kindles - can you buy ALL books for a Kindle, and how much are they??

Am thinking about a Kindle for Xmas for me :) and was wondering:

would you recommend yours?
Are ALL books published in a Kindle format?
How much are they usually? I know older/classics are cheap/free but what about recent books/bestsellers?

thanks!

If you're keen to read recent books/bestsellers, a Kindle is definitely a good buy - books only out in hardback now will generally be a bit pricy but most Kindle editions are a little less than the hb/trade pb/pb edition and they often have special offers on the bestsellers. There are regular offers and there was a 2 month summer sale this year where a number of publishers were offering some of their titles at between £1-£2.50 each. There was a spring sale but I didn't have a Kindle then. I'm hoping there'll be more sales at some point, maybe after Christmas, to get new Kindle owners into the habit of purchasing stuff.

Would recommend mine but there again I have poor eyesight so the feature that lets you change the font size is very useful.

Also use the text to speach feature and listen to audio books on it but think that the new kindle doesn't have those features.

Like bran says though, you can download a kindle app, so you could always do that first and see how you like it. Kobo also have an app too.

Think everything else has been covered already [hsmile].

Quick question if i may...is the kindle backlit or anything so i can read it in the dark or would i need a light on?

PandaG · 27/10/2011 22:18

not backlit, but you can buy cases with a light built in (don't buy the £££ official Kindle one, non branded works fine)

Or buy a head torch - take yourself back to your childhood reading books under your bed covers with a torch Grin
