Can't find the thread but ... best mobile for an old person?

Can't believe I'm asking about mobiles but have to now get one for my mother - bad fall the other week, worried if it happens outside of teh home.

Needs to be very straightforward, she has hands like a farmer's wife. Have noticed teh Vodaphone Simple/Simply (?) being marketed at old people but at £50 I think that may be a rip-off. Any other suggestions please?

There's a list of threads here , I think that best phone for older people thread is years old though so probably out of date. The ks thread looks promising though.

id go for a nokia they are simple to use and u can get a very basic 1 for £20 or go in ebay and get it cheaper.

It's the button size that is crucial. Went into Carphone Warehouse (for the very first time!) yesterday and the basic Nokia was still tiny.

Will check out other threads www.

Had a brief scan through old threads but can anyone else help in the meantime?

Try this discussion, Tink. Lots of different phones suggested.

Tinker,I started a similar thread about this a couple of months ago (needed a phone for my Mum).. The one several people recommended was the Sagem VH1 Simply - my mum has decided thats the one she wants as its got a larger than average screen, simple navigation etc. I think its currently around £50 in Woolworths

hornbag - cheers, will look for your thread. That's the phone I've spotted but, tbh, still think it's too fiddly. Mother is a technophobe and has pretty poor dextrous skills.

jan - thanks for your link. The phone is on there, just can't find a UK supplier. Plus, don't want to pat too much, which I'm guessing it might be (The Japanese one mentioned)
