The Maclaren Techno - XT or Classic?

Hi all, I am new here but have visited the site a few times when wanting an opinion on something.

So........ I have a daughter who is 13weeks old. Although we are not going to get one till after Christmas we have decided to invest in a lightweight pushchair. we want something that is easy to fold and put back up as we use the train and bus a lot, also we live in a seaside town so it will be easier to use in the summer as it gets very busy!

Anyway, I have finally decided on the Maclaren Techno (opinions please) and just wondered if you felt it is worth spending the little bit extra on the classic or if you think the XT with a footmuff would be enough as I have a spare.

Thanks in advance and GREAT site!!!

i preferred the techno xt in terms of styling and also that i felt the footmuff that came with the classic wasn't that warm, but i'm sure others will disagree with me!

well I do have a lovely warm Mamas and Papas black foormuff so was thinking of maybe using that. I am using it for my daughter at the moment and it has a weatherproof coating on the outside and fleece lining.

If you already have the footmuff then the XT will do fine. We currently have a classic which I have used since ds was nine weeks old, but one thing I will say was that I had forgotton how long they are folded up. Mine only fits in my boot diagonally, and we have quite a large car! We had an XT for dd (which bit the dust sadly) which I found nice enough, but I went for the classic this time as it had a nice padded insert with side wings which looked nice and cosy for a new baby. HTH

I like the XT too! Friend has the Classic and moans all the time, feel smug with my wonderful XT

xt ... go to kiddicare they're the cheapest

wewishyouamerryKITTYmas · 02/12/2005 09:12

Another vots for the XT think it's great for small babies too, cosy toes is really warm and it's great for getting round the shops. It fits fine in the boot of my Clio too.

Only gripe is the small shopping basket and if you overload it with bags it can be prone to tipping when you take the baby out.

Would agree kiddicare fab!

That's great, thanks all, looks like the XT for us then, shame I have to wait till after Xmas but they are bringing new colours out in January so might be worth the wait.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Another vote for the Xt and via Kiddicare. Though I got mine on Kiddicare, including free delivery, for £60 less than high street prices because I bought last year's colours... OS the Xt cost me £100 with a cosytoe.

Hmmmm, your mamas and papas foot muff might not fit. They have a different kind of harness. My mamas one has a hole at the waist to pput the straps through, the maclaren straps come from the shoulders and need two holes iyswim.

Clear as mud I expect!

freyasmum · 03/12/2005 11:00

I know what you mean, no this one has the different holes in it so it should be fine xxx

FYI we have just got the XT in Marina on the Mothercare website - £99.99 special offer. As we had a 10% off code (now expired unfortunately) we got it even cheaper.

freyasmum · 04/12/2005 20:36

I quite like it in crimson. HAve to wait till after Xmas but I don't mind paying the £120 they are at the moment. That's our limit though x

another place thats quite cheap is the glasgow pram centre, i bought my loola from them online and it arrived within 2 days.

have you seen one called ziko?, its marketed by m&p but they have their own web site too, they're quite trendy, alloy style wheels, matching little bag and toy.

think kiddicare also stock the ziko.

LUCYlastiKATEdchristmastocking · 04/12/2005 20:51

have just checked, kiddicare don't have the ziko anymore, glasgow pram centre do but its £124.99 ish

vickiyumyum · 04/12/2005 20:52

or you could buy my ziko [blush} only used a few times with brand new still in its box raincover and matching footmuff for the bargain price of £100!!!!!! (would cost about £180 new)

really sorry i know that cheeky!)

freyasmum · 04/12/2005 21:59
