Can someone tell me about roof racks/boxes on roof of cars please?

I have a holiday in the UK booked and what with luggage, boogie boards, wet suits and so on I am thinking that a roof box might be a good idea.

How do I go about finding one to fit my car or do they all fit al makes/models?

We bought ours off ebay - afaik the boxes can fit on any car make or model - the important bit is how you attach it to the car - depends if your car has roof rails fitted or not. Try googling the make of you car and roof box and see what comes up? Thats what we did and we regularly take our Zafira with huge roof box on the ferry across to Ireland. hth cheers

So do the rood rails and box need to be the same make?

Sorry cece - no I think the rails can be a different make - in our case we have Vauxhall rails and the box is a Thule one. The box locks onto the rails which then have "feet" which you close with a special screwdriver onto the roof bars. Hope this makes sense x
