3 car seats across the back seat (6 , 3 and newborn) -but not an mpv

Company car purchase -budget about £20k. Already have an Alhambra and do not want 2 mpvs. Anyone got experience/got a car that actually fits 3 car seats across the back seat? Thanks

Grand Renault Scenic.

We had a newborn, 22 month old and a 4 year old all in a row along the middle row of seats. The boot had the other 2 seats.

Ford Focus - 2 boosters & baby car seat. No probs at all :o

FourFortyFour · 31/03/2011 21:02

A 3 year old still needs a 5 point harness.

Ford Mondeo for exact same age gaps.

Citroen Xsara Picasso.
Love it. 3 comfy seats but not as long as a 7 seater...
You see'em everywhere on the school run. A proper "Mummy Mobile"...

BikeRunSki · 31/03/2011 21:17

Mazda 6 will do 2xGroup1 + 1x Group 0.

Phoenix · 31/03/2011 21:19

We've had 2 xsara picasso's and love them. Huge boot and 3 full, separate, seats in the back. It may be classed as an MPV but I would say it's a slightly larger car :o

Try anything French or Swedish. They tend to have bigger families. It's true. I read it in a newspaper article about Michelle Hussain and her three children.

silverfrog · 31/03/2011 21:21

honda frv - not technically an mpv Grin

but 3 individual seats across the back.

car sized and shaped (quite wide, though).

loved mine - was very versatile, and roomy.

suwoo · 31/03/2011 21:23

We can do 3 in the back of DHs vectra, one group1, one high backed booster and one of these. You must check that this is as skinny as ours, but one without arms fits in fine. A lot of pinching and elbowing will ensue, so don't say I didn't warn you!

thisisyesterday · 31/03/2011 21:23

we have a volvo v70 ad have a britax adventure (highback booster), besafe izi combi and a britax 2 way elite

Asinine · 31/03/2011 21:27

Agree Honda frv or fiat multiple, look like normal car but takes 3 in the back easily as a little wider, also bonus extra seat fir grandparent in front Smile

salsarocks · 31/03/2011 21:45

Ford c-max, new shape. Has 3 individual seats in back, can get 7 seat option but doesn't look too people carrier like. Is about £20000. Efficient fuel consumption too.

ChippyMinton · 31/03/2011 21:50

S-Max.

chippy47 · 01/04/2011 00:00

Cheers everybody -like the FRVs but they have stopped making them and it has to be relatively new.

S Max
Toyota Avensis, Corolla
Citreon C5
Prius

But think canny car seat purchases have played a part too

(we have a ppl carrier!)

startail · 01/04/2011 00:28

S-Max's are lovely my Dad has one (Mum has a big electric wheel chair to put in the boot). They are however V-expensive and wide.

Haven't seen the new C-max,

Have owned several focus's and focus estates, lovely cars (DH's is still going after 138000 miles)
But, no offence mrswarthogto you may be ok with 2 booster cushions and a baby seat, but I've sat in the back between one (relatively narrow) front facing car seat and a boost cushion and it is a squash. I don't think you'd get a booster cushion and two car seats, certainly not the big stage two reclining ones.
